Ted Sandle
Edward Anthony George Sandle
Ted was born in Kingston-upon-Thames, moving to the Isle of Wight at the age of nine with his father. He spent his working life as a radio operator, which at that time used Morse code.
Years at sea with the Merchant Navy until 1964 was followed by time working at the Diplomatic Wireless Service. He returned to the Isle of Wight to work at the Niton Radio Station.
He then made his way back the sea, working for Sealink as a Radio operator on cross-channel ferries. Ted has spent his later years doing lots of volunteer work.
