Derek Stephens
Although Derek did not work on the sea, he spent every say of the school holidays as a boy on the beach. By the age of 11 or 12 he started working on the Scooter Boats at the Pier’s Amusement Arcade.
In his retirement Derek is archiving the history of Shanklin Pier, so has lots of fascinating stories to share about life on the Pier before it was destroyed by the great storm in 1987.
