Peter Ian Hedley
Born in Cowes, then moved to Anglesey with Saunders Roe for his Father’s work, Peter returned at the age of 11 to Newport, Secondary Grammar School.
At 16 got an apprenticeship with John Samuel Whites, Cowes where he stayed for eight years. He then shifted to Orient Line as a Junior Engineer and stayed there for seven years.
At Trinity House Peter worked in the Surveyor’s Department for 15-16 years, moving to the Engineering Department, where work included fitting solar systems on Light Vessels and automating Light Houses. He retired at 60.
