Graham Hall on Saving Lives at Sea
The inshore boat was a little bit different because it has a crew of three and it’s the rapid response boat and you know, you want to get it out quickly and to, because, sort of, to somebody, a swimmer in the water who’s going down for the third time you don’t want to hang about so that was on the inner end of the Pier and you used to get that in the water very quickly.
We had a standard launch time. We used to think that in most circumstances, from a dead start we’d get the offshore Lifeboat afloat within eight minutes and usually the inshore boathouse, as long as everybody, there wasn’t a problem with the traffic or something but usually within about four minutes that used to be away, which is pretty good.
