Martin Woodward on Regattas

The Regattas were things that used to happen every year like Shanklin Regatta, Sandown Regatta and the Lifeboat was always part of the day.

We did quite a few Regattas, events, you know even in Portsmouth in those days with the old ‘Jesse Lumb’ so the Lifeboat would do a bit of a display and go round, a non-rescue job if you like.
