John Woodford

John Wilfred Woodford
Graham Hall | Ben Bradley
Born in Shanklin Hospital in 1936, John Woodford, spent his life in Bembridge, having only left for two years whilst carrying out his national service.

He took over his father’s butcher shop in the 1960s, which is still going strong today. John grew up alongside John Luff, friends since the age of four.

They share their memories of life in Bembridge, living by the sea, recalling events such as the harbour being full of landing craft ahead of D-Day preparations.
